I wrote a screenplay for Kanye West in the maternity ward of Mount Sinai on 96th. My daughter came early and needless to say I was sleep deprived. This turned out to be a good place to explore what being bipolar might mean for Kanye’s art. Using “Ye” and “Kids See Ghosts” as the soundtrack, the story culminates with Kanye experiencing ego death and is a wild ride. The project was brought to me by the artists Faile. The biggest challenge by far was finding a through line that reflected both Kanye and Faile’s artistic visions.10 out of 10 I’d collaborate with Faile again.
